We Accept Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS)

Child Dental Benefits Schedule Can Make Dental Treatments More Accessible for Your Children

Advantages of Having Child Dental Benefits Schedule

Basic dental needs coverage
Parents no longer need to worry about spending extra on basic dental treatments for their children. CDBS covers around $1000 worth of basic procedures that can help children maintain their oral health for over a two-year calendar period.

Preventive care over restorative care
Through CDBS, parents are more likely to bring their children to the dentist regularly, which can help prevent cavities and other dental problems in the future. In addition to saving the child from pain and complicated procedures, the cost of expensive treatment can be avoided as well.

Overall health improvement
Good oral health helps children achieve better overall health. Skipping a few dental visits can lead to your child developing decay and other dental problems, and sometimes these problems will cause pain. A painful tooth can keep the child from eating properly, affecting his overall general health. With CDBS, children can show up for a routine visit and develop healthy oral habits that can maintain their oral health.

FAQ's About
Child Dental Benefits Schedule
How can I register my child for the Child Dental Benefits Schedule?
Registration is not necessary to claim CDBS. At the beginning of each year, Services Australia conducts assessments to determine a child’s eligibility. An electronic or post notification will be sent to the child or to their parent/ guardian to inform them of eligibility. Notifications of eligibility are usually sent at the beginning of the year. However, assessment is continuous throughout the year to determine newly eligible children, and notifications are sent fortnightly.
What are the dental services covered by the Child Dental Benefits Schedule?
The CDBS covers a wide range of basic dental procedures. This includes routine check-ups, x-rays, cleaning, dental sealants, root canal treatments, fillings, pre-formed crowns, and partial dentures. However, CDBS coverage does not include orthodontics, cosmetic dentistry procedures, dental services provided in the hospital, and other specialist services.
How do I claim my child's Child Dental Benefits Schedule?
CDBS can be claimed at public and most private dental clinics. However, it is limited to clinics that are Medicare providers. To claim CDBS, book an appointment and inform the clinic that you’ll be using CDBS. Then, inquire about how much coverage is still available under the CDBS cap. This will let you know how much of the benefit amount you can still use. During the appointment, determine the cost of the services your child will need and confirm if they can be covered by CDBS. If yes, your dentist will ask you to sign a consent form confirming that you agree to the service and its cost. At the end of the treatment, your dentist may issue a bill to pay, which you can use to claim CDBS benefits or if your dentist bulk bills, you no longer need to pay or claim because they will claim the benefit directly from Services Australia.
How to know if my child is eligible for Child Dental Benefits Schedule?
Children or parents/guardians of children eligible for Child Dental Benefits Schedule will receive an electronic or post notification to inform them of eligibility. Usually, your child can get CDBS when they’re eligible for Medicare, or he is between 0 and 17 years old for at least a day during that year.
